When building the perfect home entertainment setup, we often spend thousands of dollars on TVs, sound systems, networking equipment, and gaming consoles, while the piece that holds everything together becomes an afterthought. After recently moving into my new apartment and upgrading my living room, I wanted something that could complement a large television, provide plenty of storage, and create a more inviting atmosphere.
After quite a bit of searching, I settled on the AMERLIFE 97-inch Farmhouse Fireplace TV Stand in the Light Grey finish. After living with it for a while, I can confidently say this is one of the best furniture purchases I’ve made for my home theater. I purchased the stand on Amazon Prime Day, so enjoyed quite a discount compared to its usual $449 price tag.

The AMERLIFE entertainment center is designed for large living rooms and oversized televisions.

- Remote control included

First Impressions
The first thing you’ll notice is the sheer size. At nearly eight feet wide, this entertainment center immediately becomes the focal point of the room. Unlike many budget TV stands that look undersized beneath today’s 75- to 98-inch televisions, the AMERLIFE actually feels appropriately scaled for modern displays.
The Light Grey finish was exactly what I was looking for. It offers a clean farmhouse aesthetic without looking overly rustic or dated. The crossbuck glass cabinet doors, matte hardware, and wood grain texture create a high-end appearance that fits equally well in contemporary or traditional homes.
One pleasant surprise was just how substantial the cabinet feels after assembly. While it’s constructed from engineered wood, it doesn’t have the flimsy feel commonly associated with inexpensive flat-pack furniture.

Assembly
Let’s address the biggest downside first- assembly is not quick.
The stand arrives in three separate boxes—sometimes on different days—and contains a significant number of individual parts. Expect several hundred screws, dowels, and hardware pieces.
For most people, assembly will take around three hours with two adults, though it can easily stretch longer if you’re working alone. Note: there are several parts that having a second person would be ideal, such as lining up and drilling holes while lifting another connecting piece.
Thankfully, every component is clearly labeled, the instructions are easy to follow, and all pre-drilled holes lined up correctly during my build. I never found myself forcing pieces together, which is more than I can say for many ready-to-assemble furniture brands. I did, however, have to drill some new holes a few times in certain pieces, but that is merely due to the high-quality of wood they use (more difficult to drill through than cheaper products).
Once completed, however, the effort feels worthwhile.
Design and Build Quality
From a technology enthusiast’s perspective, organization matters just as much as appearance; this entertainment center excels in that area.
The open center shelf provides the perfect location for:
- Gaming consoles
- Streaming devices
- Cable boxes
- AV receivers
- Soundbars
- Smart home hubs
Meanwhile, the large side cabinets easily hide everything else you’d rather not see, including:
- HDMI cables
- Spare controllers
- Board games
- Networking accessories
- Batteries
- Manuals
- Smart home equipment
The adjustable shelving makes it easy to customize storage for taller electronics or decorative items. Currently, I have a 2.5G PoE switch, a Z-Wave hub for my thermostat and front door lock, and an E7 access point resting on the TV stand. However, most of everything will eventually be moved to the TV stand’s cabinets, with the E7 mounted nearby on the wall.
The nearly 300-pound weight capacity also provides confidence when supporting today’s larger televisions, but in my case, I opted for a wall-mount.
The Fireplace
I originally viewed the fireplace as a bonus feature; it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the entire unit.
Unlike older electric fireplaces that simply glow orange, this model includes:
- Seven flame colors
- Adjustable brightness
- Independent flame operation without heat
- Programmable timer
- Remote control
- Adjustable thermostat
During colder evenings, the heater provides enough supplemental warmth for my apartment living room without needing to run central heat continuously.
Even during summer, I often leave the flames running without heat because they create a surprisingly relaxing ambiance while watching movies or playing games.
The fireplace is also remarkably quiet, allowing it to blend into the background without distracting from whatever you’re watching.
Perfect for Modern Tech Setups
As someone running a fairly extensive home technology setup—including a TCL 85 Inch Class T7 Series TV, surround sound equipment, gaming consoles, smart home devices, and a UniFi-powered network—I appreciate furniture that supports both aesthetics and functionality.
The AMERLIFE stand offers enough width to comfortably accommodate larger displays without making the room feel cramped. The generous storage helps keep cables, accessories, and media organized, while the open center section allows electronics to breathe and makes cable routing straightforward.
Pairing the stand with a wall-mounted television creates a clean, modern appearance that significantly elevates the overall entertainment space.
I have yet to plan the sound system as the TV I am using has a pretty decent setup (dual rear-mounted subwoofers as well), but will probably do a 5.1 setup with a soundbar. The TV stand should the entire setup with room to spare.
Things I’d Improve
No product is perfect. There are only a few areas I’d like to see improved.
Cable Management
The rear cable routing works well enough, but I’d love to see additional routing channels or removable rear panels for easier cable organization. As I still have a ton of unused cable management items from past projects, I believe I will be able to hid all cords and such.
Soft-Close Hinges
The cabinet doors operate smoothly, but soft-close hinges would make the unit feel even more premium.
Assembly Time
This isn’t unique to AMERLIFE, but prospective buyers should understand they’re purchasing a serious furniture project—not something that comes together in 30 minutes.

Final Thoughts
The AMERLIFE 97-inch Farmhouse Fireplace TV Stand manages to do something many entertainment centers fail to accomplish.
It looks significantly more expensive than it actually is.
It combines attractive farmhouse styling, generous storage, solid construction, and an electric fireplace that adds genuine value rather than feeling gimmicky. For anyone building a premium home theater, upgrading a family room, or furnishing a new home, it offers an excellent balance of design and functionality.
While assembly requires patience, the finished product is sturdy, attractive, and well-suited for today’s large-screen televisions and technology-heavy living rooms.
