Office Updates

After working from home every other day, I wanted to take some time to upgrade the office a bit.

I recently switched ISPs from Cox to CenturyLink’s fiber internet plan; while I am still using their standard equipment, the speeds are a great improvement. Eventually, I plan on purchasing a new router and modem, as well as setting up a mesh system to expand my network’s range a bit to each of the three floors in my house. Alternatively, I may just end up upgrading the router and using the factory one in my office.

My office has been a work in progress for some time as since we purchased the house, we have had two sewage leaks that required complete remodels. Now that we have finally installed new sewage lines, I can start creating a cozy WFH space.

This old laptop literally got me through two degrees, so I wanted to upgrade it a bit to use when I have to watch the kid during work hours. It’s an old Asus laptop with an i7 and a GT840m GPU. I swapped the aging hard drive with an extra SSD I had lying around, as well as added an additional 8GB of RAM.

While not part of the office, I recently purchased a Samsung 65” Q7DA QLED 4K 120Hz and set it up in the living room paired with a TCL soundbar; while currently just streaming via Wi-Fi, this will eventually be paired with a PC.

While RGB isn’t necessarily my thing, my son sure does love this look while he plays.
