Releasing later this year, Microsoft’s preview build of Exchange 2019 is definitely attracting attention. The new Exchange will feature many new changes such as being able to be paired with Windows Server Core and a reduced attack surface/disk space. Exchange 2019 will be able to install on Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Core as well as with Desktop Experience. Per Microsoft, although Office 365 is the most optimal and cost-effective experience, many still tend to prefer on-premises setups. Security, end user experience, and performance are a few of the areas that will be addressed, providing us with a simple glimpse of what is to come in the future. Exchange Server will be able to use up to 256GB of RAM and 48 processor cores and Microsoft announced that Exchange Online has started using Solid State Drives (SSDs). These many advancements coupled with new email capabilities such as Simplified Calendar Sharing make Exchange 2019 a much-anticipated build releasing later this fall. Stay tuned for more updates!
