Title: Upcoming Upgrades and Changes to the Network

In the next few days, there are going to be numerous changes to strengthen our internet network, many of which will affect everyone. These changes are designed to boost production, security, and performance. These upgrades will not take long to set up, and I want to apologize for any inconvenience this causes. The updates are as follows. General changes: All users must change their passwords now and then every 2 months. New ID cards that feature an RFID Chip will be issued to all and will be needed to both access the facility as well as log into a computer. Administrator privileges will be re-assigned based on necessity. New antivirus and anti-spam-ware will be installed on all computers and must be regularly updated and learned how to be appropriately used.

Wi-Fi changes- Administrator passwords will now be frequently changed. SSID broadcasting will be turned off during off-hours as well as changing its name to something more secure. Changes to encryption settings from Wireless Equivalent Protocol (WEP) to Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) will be introduced. New routers will be installed as well, providing faster internet speeds as well as increased security.

VLAN changes- Unauthorized access will be restricted by adding increased security measures such as the removal of console-port cables, introducing a password-protected console and adding specified timeouts. We will also be controlling Inter-VLAN routing using IP access lists allows normal traffic flow but does not expose the networks that need protection.

Please contact either myself or the IT department for further questions. Thank you.
