I am on call this weekend, which typically means finishing some projects to keep busy while being stuck at the house. So, I finally got around to removing the two chrome emblems in the rear of my 2017 BMW 750i (XDrive and 750i emblems) and then adding a black 750i emblem while keeping the XDrive one removed. I did buy a black XDrive emblem as well, but I kind of like the minimalistic look, at least for now.
Before

After

It was really sunny out, so the pictures do not really do it much justice. From far away, the rear of the car looks as if it was completely de-badged (which is a look I love), but from near the vehicle, it really blends well with the paint and carbon fiber parts, while still retaining a mildly-stock appearance.
On past cars, I have used a heat gun to remove the emblems, along with some Goo-Gone and microfiber towels. This time, I opted for my wife’s hair dryer as I think we left the heat gun at the old house during our move to CO. The overall process only took about an hour, with most of that time spent trying to get the leftover residue off and properly align the new emblem, which was more challenging than I thought.
I think I am finally done with the rear of the car, except for re-wrapping that carbon fiber trunk trim, as I think I can do a better job.

Now Paid Off!
While on this topic, I just got the news that the sports limo is finally paid off after about a year of ownership (dropping $25k at signing sure helped!)
Now, I will save what I was paying each month for the sports limo for a new M2 or M340 at some point (and trading in the sports limo), but for now, I will continue to enjoy the more luxurious side of BMW.
Other Projects
Another task I finally got done this weekend was re-wiring the ethernet cable leading from the basement’s main mesh node to the one on the middle floor, as the pretty and flat Cat6 I had only lasted about a month (big surprise, the install process was horrible, so no wonder the connections were not ideal). Instead, I opted for some high-quality and thick Cat6 (which I installed in a fraction of the time as the flat version), and the connection from the middle mesh node to the one upstairs got fixed as well in the process (I thought I would have to re-run that line).
All PCs on each of the three floors of the house are now wired, and each floor has its own hard-lined mesh WAP. Internet speeds are incredible now, so this project can now be gladly crossed off the list.
On to the next task!
