I just finished introducing Cisco Webex to a few employees and figured I should create a quick how-to document for creating a Webex account; since our first use of the product will be for an external customer, making the entire process as easy as possible is of utmost importance.
Both this document and the Cisco Webex Meetings: Review and How-To post that I submitted earlier have been added to my company’s online help center.
Below, are the necessary steps in creating a new Cisco Webex account.
- Go to https://www.webex.com/ in your internet browser.
- Select ‘Start for Free’ at the top right of the screen (Shown Below).
- Enter your email address and select ‘Sign Up’ (Shown Below).
- Next, a confirmation code will be sent to the email address you entered in step 3. Go to your email address and open the email from Cisco Webex, marked ‘Here’s your Cisco Webex Meetings activation code’.
- With the email in step 4 opened, copy the 6-digit activation code (Shown Below).
*number is hidden to protect privacy*
- With the 6-digit confirmation code copied from your email, navigate back to your webex.com tab in your internet browser, and then paste the 6-digit code into the box (Shown Below).
- Immediately after entering the code, you will be presented with a new window where you need to enter your first name, last name, and create a password; enter this information and then press ‘Continue’ (Shown Below).
- You have now successfully created an account! You should now see the following screen; from here, you can start a meeting, schedule one, or use the left tab to set up your preferences, view recordings, search for meetings, and even view insights (Shown Below).
- Note: When you first start a new meeting or try to get into one, you will be asked to download the Cisco Webex Meeting application; this program will be used in lieu of the Webex website.
